A fascinating premise for a novel, and so timely 74 years after its publication—the bias and 2nd- or 3rd-hand storytelling given as fact in history books, the persistent belief in such stories despite documented events that prove them wrong, the unjustified ruin or glorification of those targeted.

Shades of blue, Spello.

I’ve been cursing a bird that’s been waking me up very early for weeks. Finally identified its call, and now that I see that it’s an adorable great tit I’m no longer mad at it. Sing away, chonky little one.

It pains me that the WW2-era storyline in my debut novel has become more relevant than I ever imagined while writing the book.

Silent anticipation in New England, moments before tears warmed our frozen faces as my son married his love. Nice dramatic entrance by the clouds.

Aria suggests you sit down with her for a nice chat. She swears she’s a good listener, but for best results you might want to bring treats.

Aria says hi. Aussie shepherd/border collie mix, born in California, mother of 9, fighting for survival on the mean streets, forever home found at age 2, now 14 and enjoying life in Italy. Speaks 2 languages, very fond of pastries and all things bread. Hobby: barking at cats. #dogs

Reason number 9,457 why I love living in Italy: when you ask for 6 tulips at the florist and she gives you one extra as a “regalino” (little gift), then tosses in a white iris because you said it was pretty.

A cool Sunday morning in central Italy. Wishing the rest of the world were this peaceful.

My dog, Aria (the innocent-looking gray/black one), rolled in human excrement at the park today, which was even less fun (for me, obvs) than usual (yep, she's a repeat offender) since the day started out sucky. So please, reply w/ pics of your pets, favorite books, or whatever makes you smile.

Here’s part of my little library, plus overflow. Wishing you book joy!
