New Book Review! Fallen Gods by Rachel Van Dyken, available 12/2!

Rey's father, Odin, sends her to Endir University to retrieve Mjolnir to end the war between Gods and Giants. What she didn't consider is the handsome Aric Erickson, her former betrothed, to be the key to finding the weapon and the…
Fallen Gods by Rachel Van Dyken
Review Rachel Van Dyken offers a fun and unique spin on Norse mythology with Fallen Gods. I think this is the first Norse mythology-based book I've read, and I really enjoyed it. Most readers are likely familiar with the lore - Odin, Thor, Loki, war between Gods and Giants, the Bitfrost bridging Asgard and Midgard, etc. I really liked the creative choices the author made - both with the storyline and characters.

A life coach agrees to her boyfriend's spontaneous marriage proposal. And her mother, while urging her to trust her decision, suddenly decides to divorce her husband of 35 years. So the daughter naturally follows her mother on…
Your Next Life is Now by Namrata Patel
Review Namrata Patel delivers another heartfelt, entertaining character journey with Your Next Life is Now. This is the fourth title I've read by the author, and by now I know that I'll get a great story no matter what she writes. It's also fun to see her growth as an author, becoming more confident in herself and taking more risks in her storytelling.

A noteworthy sequel to The Last One! Kai is a badass FMC who goes through…
The Cruel Dawn by Rachel Howzell Hall
Review Read my book review for The Last One. The Cruel Dawn picks up right where The Last One left off. Kai's tries to pick up the pieces while her fractured memory recovers. As her memories come back to her, so does the guilt of what she did in the past. She spends the entirety of the story trying to redeem herself and protect the realm from the bigger threat, but her past keeps coming back to slap her in the face.

Rose and her 14-year-old son just moved in with her new husband and mother-in-law. Her son's tutor gets results, but she may have ulterior motives for her family.

Plot twists galore! I seriously thought I knew the truth, but…
The Tutor by Courtney Psak
Review Readers who enjoy psychological suspense will appreciate the misleads and twists that Courtney Psak delivers in The Tutor. She sets the tone early in the story and potentially messy character relationships. Rose has a 14-year-old son James and moves from New York to Florida with her second husband Grant, at the request of her mother-in-law Evelyn. And throughout most of the story, readers will recognize the often tense dynamic between a man's mother and new wife.

The Cover Girl by Amy Rossi
Review Amy Rossi delivers a powerful debut with The Cover Girl. Taking place in 70s/80s NYC/LA, readers get an intimate look at the unforgiving world of modeling and fashion, as well as the toxic culture of the music industry through the eyes of an underage girl. While the narrative comes with plenty of potentially triggering content, we see a heartbreaking coming-of-age journey through Birdie's first-person POV.

Vitalerium by Nicholas Keating Casbarro
Review I didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book. But I was pleasantly surprised before after just the history and prologue. Nicholas Keating Casbarro delivers and strong debut with Vitalerium: Descent into the Void. The book is action packed with high stakes, fantastic worldbuilding, a creative and sophisticated plot, interesting and entertaining characters, and even a little romance sprinkled in.

Good Hair Days by Grace Helena Walz
Review While Women's Fiction isn't on the top of my favorites, Good Hair Days by Grace Helena Walz does the genre justice. It's got everything you expect from the title. The southern vibes, generations of women coming together for each other, and light-hearted moments to cut the tension. But also serious themes, a sprinkle of romance, and an emotional slap to the heart at the end.

The Man Next Door by Sheila Roberts
Review Sheila Roberts delivers a humorous Rear Window retelling with The Man Next Door. Louise is a ham with a big heart and nosy personality. Zona is just trying to get her life together after her ex-husband drains everything they have. And young Bree has lost all interest of serious long-term relationships due to her mother's history. And they can't seem to get on the right track with their hot new neighbor, Alec.

The Things Gods Break by Abigail Owen
Review Check out my book review of The Games Gods Play. Abigail Owen definitely took it up a notch with The Things Gods Break. She crafted a narrative with the sequel that turns the first book into a  completely different story. The book picks up right where the first one left off - Lyra and Boone are stuck in Tartarus with the Titans.

The Goat in the Bedroom by Amy Award
Review Amy Award delivers another fun, heartwarming, and spicy romance with The Goat in the Bedroom. The friends-to-lovers trope where he falls first works so well for Gryff and Artie. I quickly became a fan of the Cocky Kingmans and Amy never disappoints with each sibling's love story. Artie, as badass as she is, is so charming and adorable when it comes to dating.

Snow Kissed by RaeAnne Thayne
Review RaeAnne Thayne has quickly become one of my favorite non-spicy romance authors. She creates characters with depth and room to grow, plus they relationships and community outside of the their romantic interest. Ryan is a swoony yet straightforward FMC who has a playful side. Holly is as caring, driven, and protective as any mom of a special needs daughter would be.
