I'm an old hippy - class of '65. Peace, love, believed it when we sang "Aquarius/Let the sun shine in" Didn't happen, but I'm still hoping... I love cats, horses, raise rabbits, make terrariums, talk to strangers at every chance. Peace out.

As a result of never using pesticides, we now have great numbers of pollinators, a cacophony of Pacific tree frogs serenading us every night, praying mantises, garter snakes, and flocks of birds that visit and nest in the hedgerows. You, too, can do this! Throw out the pesticides!

Here's where that 'one tree, grass only' lot is today.

Six years we've lived here at our little third of an acre. We call it "One Tree" because when we bought the two adjacent lots, that's what was on it. One tree. One small shore-pine. And lots of mongrel grasses of all kinds. No bushes. No other trees. Hard to believe it was like this.

Tonight the wind is blowing so hard I had to chase down an empty trash can, feeling it push me like I was no more than a fly. Today I read that fruit flies dream. So do octopi. I don't eat octopi anymore...they're too intelligent. (I also don't eat fruit flies 'cause they're too tiny to clean.)

I and my BEST FRIEND IN ALL THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE, Cheryl, - moved to Lakeside five years ago, from Portland, Oregon. We wanted to be able to fish. We love to fish!
Now though, we live in a tiny (1700+) town of mostly very conservative, right-leaning people, which we are not. Peace and love, everyone
