This weekend I was granted life membership in Auckland Pride, only the third person to be recognised like this. I'm honoured, but I was recognised for being one prominent spokesperson for the radical vision of what Pride could be - not because I'm an individual, but because I'm part of a collective.

I've been listening to this black metal band and their logo is so good I had to decrypt it. their name is "Keys to the Astral Gates and Mystic Doors" and goddamn if their logo doesn't turn out to actually say all that.

I found a bunch of my old art, miraculously preserved for ten years (!) on the university's servers. I was quite young and so these are all self-obsessed self-portraits, but it was interesting to remember I used to do this. It's definitely a part of myself I've abandoned now!

18 months ago i returned from maternity leave to take up a fixed-term position as a lecturer in sociology. i put this meme up on a slide and not a single student laughed. somehow, despite my many despairs and agonies, another teaching year has come to an end.
