Horticultural Tradesman from QLD, Australia. ALP (SL). Card Carrying Anarchist.
I'm not going to lie this is the best cover photo for a book on control measures for invasive plants.

Anti-fascist counter protest in Brisbane earlier today.

The National Socialist Network organised the "March for Australia" against immigration. In every major city there was a counter protest. I hear the Brisbane counter protest was barely promoted, so getting 400 people to turn up was good.

I've long warned my town's gardening sector is dominated by untrained rouseabouts. I've heard it from several customers, and now I've heard it straight from the horses mouth.

God help us honest tradespeople!

Returned to this site after a week to assess how the herbicide treatments had gone. The vast majority of the Leuceaena died after this noxious cocktail of chemicals was applied to it.

This particular infestion was so bad, Council ordered it to be destroyed.

Got back from Cleaning up Thargomindah yesterday. I caught this beautiful sunrise while I was there.

So Trump's imposing tarrifs on Australia? Lol whatever! He lowered American Manufacturing standards in his first term. Compare that to advanced economies that subsidise their manufacturing sector, like Japan and Sweden; I know where my confidence lies.

So here's a little environmentalism for you.

Standard industry practice for removing lawn thatch is horribly destructive.

Over the past few months, I've conducted experiments to try and encourage thatch to decompose naturally using "Blood and Bone" Fertiliser. These are the results so far.

Untrained rouseabouts (or unskilled labourers) are dragging down the productivity of the economy. Their cowboy antics of doing a job cheap and nasty often means the customer needs to pay a tradesman down the track to fix the problems they cause.

Accept the cheapest price; you pay twice.

The aftermath of storms and floods are incredibly dangerous. Fallen Power Lines, rusty metal, septic mud, and worse are all found in the debris.

A few months ago we had our back yard torn up by machinery installing. The first things that come back after bare earth is usually weeds. Knowing this, I broadcast lawn seed around the area to promote lawn instead of weeds. Its worked, the area has nearly recovered with few weeds.

Did some mulching in the back garden a few weeks back. Trying to suppress weeds by making it harder for them to germinate.

When doing this, its important to try and source landscape supplies that are free from weeds. I know my local composting station makes its product to the Australian Standard.

I think I just got charged for someone to advertise TO ME.

Seriously, Zuck?

And that's measured in the shade.

The AWU's heat policy would see workers in heat traps now.

The Australian Economy has a serious issue with accepting unskilled workers. Governments are throwing money at training tradespeople, but bosses and customers alike can't resist the lure of cheap Labour.

Some steps to take to manage heat in the workplace.

Made some Jalapeno Poppers just now with the chillis I've been growing in my garden.

Presentations not great (I'm a gardener, not a chef), but they taste good.

It's only got 5 Jalapenos with seeds in it, and mum says it's too hot to give to my church's soup kitchen.

Strike rate has also increased over the past 4 years. It's about time, we need to fight the bosses if we want to address the cost of living.

The delicious side of being a Horticulturalist. Home grown food.

I treated these Jalapeno plants very poorly. Put them in poor draining soil as seedings (have them some compost a few weeks later), and I haven't watered them in like a month (we've had enough rain, and they're a desert plant).

What did I do to deserve this?

Am I really such a threat to fascism that it needs to monitor me?

This is why I call myself a "Cane Cutter." 40 years ago, the majority of QLDs workforce would cut sugar cane by hand. The cane knife I'm using in this video is from those days.

The Cane Fields were mechanised before I was born. Now I'm only 'on the knife' when slashing Lantana and other weeds.

While it might not be the juiciest content, I might share the odd example of my work as a Horticultural Tradesman.

This Lantana weed was growing by the side of the road. I was worried it would take over the area after a controlled burn that's been planned for a while now. I voluntarily cleared it.
