It's not often a book makes me question everything, be totally disgusted, and 100% invested all at once. Tender is the Flesh did all of that and more. This book is a train wreck you just can't turn away from. This dystopian horror is a solid read! **trigger warning- cannibalism, SA, slaughter, human sacrifice, and more. Marcos is separated from his wife after the loss of their infant son.

I love a good second chance book, and this didn't disappoint. Sophie has been baking secretly as The Invisible Baker, and stashing that money to leave her abusive husband. He may not be physically abusive, but he made Sophie so small she questions if she even deserves love. When she inherits her mother's home, she knows it's finally time to leave.

Octogenarians, Bronagh and Sadie, are always getting into mischief. This book starts out with them borrowing (stealing) Sadie's grandson's Ferrari, after causing a scandal at a baking competition.

If you haven't read Soul of Shadow, you're missing out! The book was released in July of 2025, and book two is due out next year. This YA series is captivating, even for older readers. Charlie Hudson is a junior in high school. After the death of her twin sister a couple of years prior, she is stuck in life. Her spark is gone causing her to simply exist instead of living life.

The first bit was pretty slow moving, but once everything was established, it was wonderful. The author has such a fun spin on how the magic was used, and I appreciate the Christmas mixed in with it.

I finished The House in the Cerulean Sea this week. This book definitely makes you think about how you view the world, and the many people in it. T.J. Klune has a way of bringing the characters to life. The best way to sum this novel up would be 1984 meets fantasy. I appreciate the 1984-vibes, as it is one of my top must read books I suggest to others.

Are you looking for a cozy magical mystery series? This is the set for you! Danielle Garrett has created a fun series with witches, vampires, ghosts, and more. The supernatural never seemed so normal. I'm on book five of the series, and so far they have all been interesting. Each book is quick, but keep you interested. The mystery plays into each story, and you'll feel like you're friends with the main characters.

Yes, there are a few spicy bits in it, but it wasn't t he focus throughout. The reality gameshow theme was interesting, and I liked the magic system. Penelope is a retail girl in a spell shop.

The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife by Anna Johnston was exactly what I needed. It was heartbreaking, yet beautiful. Fred, 82, is broke, has no family, and on the brink of homelessness. He was also an all-around good guy, who would do anything for anyone who needed him. By a crazy turn of events, he is mistaken for Bernard Greer, a resident at a nursing home, who had recently been diagnosed with dementia.
