Just finished "Murder in the Dressing Room" by Holly Stars and both Cedar and me are... underwhelmed?

What is it about drag queens and writing bad books 😭

Reading Hijabi Butch Blues by Lamya H and oh boy did I not realize how people can have similar experiences even while living vastly different lives

I am very quickly finding out that I cannot, in fact, just wing it when it comes to my thesis 🥲

Currently reading a book that is such a terribly stereotyped representation of gay men I genuinely thought it was written by a straight woman

It’s written by a gay man 🥲

I think it’s time I accept the fact that Andrew Joseph White’s books just aren’t for me. A true shame since I’m desperate for some autistic trans rep 😭

Me: *strategically spaces out my Libby holds so only one to two books will be available at a time*

Libby: “So here are all your holds from the past six months including several that were supposed to take a couple more weeks”

Me: “Well there goes my weekend”

Who said Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Fairies is cozy fantasy?! This book has me way too stressed for it to be cozy fantasy 😭

I’m currently trying to read at least one book a day because I still have 71 books to go to meet my 2025 reading goal. It’s been a lot 🥲

Hey y’all- do me a favor and every time you see a “grad student” talk about how they use an AI program called Anara to cheat on their research papers, report them for undisclosed branded content. They made brand new accounts just to promote this horrible software #gradstudent #antiai #research

Been on a deep dive for a potential YouTube video about the US literacy crisis and I finally found the damn article that has everyone convinced half of Americans read at or below a 6th grade level. The authors actually had to take out that statement because it misrepresented the data btw #booksky

I've been slacking on the book reviews lately (the last three months have been wildly busy) but I'm trying to get into the groove of things. I'm trying to figure out my branding/ content style and I have a teensy question to ask y'all...

What type of book review content do you enjoy?

Just finished Don’t Let the Forest In by C.G. Drews and I’m… disappointed? I wanted to like this book, but it just didn’t hit for me. The plot seemed to take a back seat and the real focus was on the poetic prose. Gorgeous words but the story didn’t feel grounded or important

I think I’m gonna have to cancel my Rainbow Crate sub and just order a la carte. I subscribed in March, somehow got automatically skipped for April (they didn’t charge me at least), and May (and probably June) will be late. Oh and one of the books in the March box has a printing error 🥲 #booksky

First day of #pridemonth and already people in the book community are already getting on my nerves

It’s all “support LGBTQ+ authors and Own Voice books” until mm romance books are brought up- then it’s just excuses

It feels weird when authors start policing what reviewers and readers can and can’t put in their reviews

Me with a megaphone in BookThreads and Booktok: “There is (almost) always nuance!”

It’s a mess over there y’all. I don’t know how people post there consistently.

Guys I need to make an irresponsible impulsive purchase so should I

a) get that tattoo I’ve been thinking about for years

b) spend $200+ at my local indie book store and not read the books for several months

c) get an iPad for AAC apps and my reading apps

I don’t need to know an author’s government name or where they live…

I just want to make sure they’re not a bigot and/or actually a real person and not AI

There’s nothing I love more than a good old Sherlock Holmes retelling. The only thing better would be a gay werewolf omegaverse Sherlock Holmes retelling

At the risk of giving you guys a general area for where I live…

Fuck the person who decided to cut funding to the NOAA. People have died and will continue dying because of you. The NOAA’s alerts save lives and you gutted it
