Attempt #3: 1.5oz Koval dry gin, 0.5oz arak, 0.5oz Dolin, 0.5oz amaro Nardini. Probably the best version! Nardini is a mint/anise-heavy amaro so plays well with other ingredients. The arak is less overwhelming than the absinthe so balances better with the weaker gin. This is a fairly bitter drink!

Attempt #1: 1.5oz Koval dry gin (94 proof), 0.5oz Vieux Pontarlier absinthe, 0.5oz Dolin dry vermouth, 0.5oz mint-infused simple: Pretty good! Fairly sweet with this much simple. The Koval doesn't hold up against the absinthe, which is overpowering.
