In a longitudinal study with patients undergoing detoxification, Deep TMS treatment significantly halted white matter damage progression and supported recovery of functional connectivity. This intervention also reduced relapse rates 3 months post-treatment.

The study, a collaboration with researchers from @bengurionu, @liu_universitet, and @zi_mannheim, applied a non-invasive Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (Deep TMS) method to prevent white matter damage progression during abstinence.

(5/7) This new approach could pave the way for developing biomarkers for brain disorders, enhancing the ability to detect subtle changes in brain connectivity related to psychiatric conditions. We show an example for Alcohol Use Disorders (AUD).

(4/7) Our findings suggest a potential universality in brain dynamics, with similar patterns observed across species (rats, marmosets, humans) and in different types of data (fMRI and EEG).

the large majority of weaker links would add flexibility to information routing and systems computation in the brain.

(2/7) We found a robust 0-lag backbone composed of a low proportion of strong links (high and stable correlations), accompanied by a large majority of weaker linksat varying time delays, which expand the possible functional configurations archivable within a network.

(1/7) Instead of analyzing an averaged network, we focused on the statistical distribution of network properties, unveiling a stable yet flexible architecture of brain connectivity.

Reposting couple of articles to introduce our lab! Here’s the first: a study where we construct brain functional networks accounting for time lags in inter-regional communication, providing more comprehensive view of brain dynamics.
