Weekend at Trump's

FYI

Really want to post new astrophotography pics...

Winter in Canada.

When it's close to or above freezing, there are clouds.

When it's -20°C it's clear, but heat from the city "mucks" up the skies.

I know the beaver, goose & moose are alright... but never forget our bears

Trump wants Canada to be the 51th state...

What do you do when the frikkin clouds keep playing in the night sky?

2 hours of the Soul Nebula.

I used Siril, with Starnet Star Removal & streched the nebula & stars separately.
I'm just a partially color blind geek without a drop of "artistic" blood, but I like what came out of the process.

Happy Thanksgiving to the folks down south.

For Canadians, it's only Thursday, so hang in there. We're gonna make it to the weekend.

No cheating
Post your current wallpaper.

I wish I had the skill to take pictures like this, but my eyes search for such scenery in the darkest spots.

May your coffee be strong and your workday short.

Have a great day everyone.

I'll never get the Astronomy Picture of the Day but I got the "cheap" Canadian version. 🤣

I got the Comet and a satellite 🙃

Had a small break in the clouds last night.

Guess who's still lurking in our skies?
C/2023 A3 Tscuchinshan/Atlas
It's apparent magnitude is only 8.9 but only 25x20 sec exposures at ISO 200 and it'll say hello.

Two years ago, this charming lad came up to my patio door on Christmas day in a snowstorm.

He and my other rescue lad have now taken over the living room couch.

Rumor has it that we need more cats on Bluesky...

My 2 boys just chilling while I post.

This is the Pacman Nebula.

It's a star forming region a little over 9200 light years away. The reason it appears so big is it has a radius of about 48 light years.
November 23, 2024 at 9:31 PM
About 1h40 pointing at the "tiny" Helix Nebula.

It has a radius of almost 3 light years.

It's an expanding shell of gas around a dying star.

One thing that I will not miss from "the other place"...

Have I mentioned here that I @&%@$@#$ hate clouds?
When the full moon is not there, it seems like the clouds are always there 🤨

At any rate, I managed to grab the Phantom Galaxy, M74, for about 1h20. 300 × 20 sec exposure.

It's a very faint galaxy about 32 million light years from Earth.

Rosetta Nebula. Took 3.5 hours to get all those pixels.
November 18, 2024 at 8:19 PM
Western Veil Nebula also called the Witch's Broom Nebula Sep 29th 2024. It took about 3.5 hours to get that detail.

Allow me to add the Moon I just took.

A little Dwarf II telescope did it. All I did is point and download. 😆
