We have some streets in Toronto with a similar design, contraflow bike lanes and shared traffic with parking the opposite way. Palmerston Avenue is one recent one. Unfortunately drivers don't always respect them, but that may be a design thing.

I live in Willowdale, and everyone I know who lives in the neighbourhood also lives in one of the towers near Yonge. Heck, I've even got a friend who lives down the hall from us. The idea that dense housing is inherently lonely is ludicrous.

That too, though I think that's on the province to kick in more operational funding. The City's budget is stretched pretty thin.

And those who don't drive or don't own cars will be more likely to use Uber/Lyft or taxis, also adding to congestion.

I live in North York, and frequently take the subway further downtown and transfer to BikeShare to reach a local destination. Having the bike lanes right there along the subway is super helpful for that, and they often make for the best route to follow.
