Wanted to put together a serious response to this Continental/Analytic divide discourse, and since I didn’t want to refute these blogposts point by point, I did wanted to help explain what Continental philosophy actually does and defend it

It seems like the trope has almost regressed, where older media provided the opportunity of the fulfillment of the desire to be cared and desired for while being vulnerable and useless to the point of cliché (3/4)

Dying is an acceptable replacement for desiring uselessness (a thing patriarchy can’t allow you to do) so it’s never about death but a displacement of a craving to be cared for; but the final part of the desire is missing and death is the purposeful denial of fulfillment (2/4)

I’ve been trying to write an article on this for a minute, but a lot of current male fantasies (dying in the snow being a big one) is not about strength but a displaced desire to be cared for while providing no utility to anyone else (1/4)
