It seems like the trope has almost regressed, where older media provided the opportunity of the fulfillment of the desire to be cared and desired for while being vulnerable and useless to the point of cliché (3/4)

Dying is an acceptable replacement for desiring uselessness (a thing patriarchy can’t allow you to do) so it’s never about death but a displacement of a craving to be cared for; but the final part of the desire is missing and death is the purposeful denial of fulfillment (2/4)
