47. Gekijōban Dōbutsu no Mori / Animal Crossing: The Movie

Such a cozy vibe. Highly recommend if you need something relaxing.

46. Heroes of Barcadia

A simple game with a really fun idea. Think it works really well as a party game. BTW, I had to play with soda since I don’t drink lmao.

45. Dragon Quest: Your Story

A fun film with very nice visuals and animation. It does a pretty good job adapting that familiar Dragon Quest charm. Not gonna lie, that ending really surprised me.

44. Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac

This is not a replacement for the original. The level design and physics are very different. That said, this is still a solid game. Bosses are better, water levels are better, and I enjoyed the new voice acting. A lovely return to a childhood favorite of mine.

The Playstation 2 turns 25 today. These 4 games are my favorite from that console.

43. Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier

Enjoyed this musical a lot more than I expected! Most of the jokes land, the songs are great, and even the emotional bits are handled well. The crude humor may not be for everyone, but speaking personally, I had a great time here.

42. Catan

I’m generally not huge on board games, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. I didn’t do well, but growing your settlements is satisfying and trading resources with other players is fun. I’d be down to play this again with my friends.

41. 127 Hours

Hard to watch, and I mean that in the best of ways. Despite going in knowing the real life event, it still had me rooting for each triumph and dreading each setback. A masterful example of the unique ways in which films can tell a story.

Went to a game store today. Found one heck of a find.

40. UFO Baby / Daa! Daa! Daa! (up to episode 40)

Unfortunately didn’t get to finish this one before the fan sub got taken down. But based on the half that I’ve seen, this is an incredibly cute and cozy series. Hope it gets rereleased somewhere, cuz I can’t find another good place to watch it.

39. Hollow Knight Silksong

It can get a bit carried away with the double damage and enemy gauntlets, but pretty much everything else is peak. Hornet is so much fun to play as and Pharloom’s secrets are so satisfying to find. Dunno if it tops the first game, but it’s on par at the very least.

Apparently games rated 1.4 aren’t too common. Closest I could get was this IMDb review for Ride to Hell: Retribution. 😭

38. Hajime no Ippo: Rising

I think this is Ippo at its finest. The fights are peak and each new opponent was interesting. Also loved Kamogawa’s backstory.

37. Chibi-Robo!

Been meaning to try this game for years, and it did not disappoint. It’s delightfully quirky and exploring the house is really fun. Definitely a highlight of the GameCube library.

36. We Know the Devil

This is a strong LGBT+ story. As a cishet, I don’t think I connected with it in the exact same way others would. That said, I really respect its messages. Isolation, LGBT+ discrimination, and religious trauma are important topics. I feel they’re all handled insightfully here.
