Exactly. Putting the responsibility on pedestrians is wrong. In the UK, pedestrians always have right of way. It’s far more likely that if a ped gets hit, it’s the cars fault. Also cities should be a hub for public transport and walkability, not full of car parks and 4 lane roads.

Car dependent countries create bad drivers, which in turn creates issues and incidents like the one in the original post. EU and UK don’t seem to get these issues as regularly because they’re not dependent on cars. All countries need multiple forms of transport to make it better for everyone.

I think the issue is mainly with the car culture in the US. We have issues with some drivers in the UK, but it’s a whole lot worse in the US due to their car dependency. If I’m in the US, I’ve never wanted to drive a car due to the other drivers, meanwhile I love driving in the UK.

A lot of high street banks apps (like Lloyds) still don’t have notifications for each transaction on as standard, it’s either a setting you need to manually turn on or it doesn’t have it at all. So people never even see the transactions come out.
