I (not yet 30) recently learned that human happiness follows a u shaped curve throughout life. Apparently the lowest point is at ~50 but trends up after. So midlife crisis is well founded in the data. Hang in there, you do excellent meaningful work. Sorry that’s not more comforting.

Is all that honking in support, or opposition, or both..? :(

Idk, Sayed seems more honest to me. I also learned today that he helped eliminate medical debt for ~300k Michiganders. And he doesn’t have these concerning funding sources. I put my hopes in his vision. And from McMarrows campaign materials, I haven’t seen a compelling vision.

I don’t think we’ve been demanding enough. Like not even close to enough. We’ve allowed so much for decades now. That’s partly why we’re here imo. I don’t think I have unreasonable idealistic expectations that if you say you’ll fight someone, you’re not taking their money too.

That’s fair, but there are candidates who choose not to take money from concerning sources. It’s not unreasonable imo to expect a candidate to refuse such donations. And furthermore, if she’s taking their donations, then saying she’ll stand up to them, it is hard for me to buy.

That’s fair. I’m not saying she’s completely in their pocket, either, but these are definitely red flags imo. I might be to critical, but I guess I’m just very very skeptical of candidates, we’ve been fed BS for years, and Im trying to keep myself from falling it.

To be fair, she’s also got large contributions from unions, but she’s also got large contributions from real estate, health insurers, and the auto industry, amongst others.

I’m not an expert here, so please let me know if there’s better sources. But according to this, in of all her funding going back to 2017, DTE Energy was her 9th largest contributor.

Last I checked utilities were one of McMarrows biggest sources of funding…. So like, what, she’s the answer?

Her top donors include real estate, healthcare orgs, grocery conglomerates, DTE, Ford, bankers, etc. Top donor is a PAC run by the Quicken loans and Cleveland Cavaliers billionaire owner. You’ll also see these orgs donating to republicans and democrats equally. I bet she’ll be a voice for the people

In isolation, their claims of high on target editing efficiency and low off target editing are a useful development for treating genetic diseases. But the context of a global fascist movement and rising interest in eugenics is what makes such developments scary for me.

I remember before I attended, I thought to myself that I’m entering the lion’s den. My experience there and their actions since support that sense. But there are some great people within in, like you! Wish I could’ve gotten into your courses, I think The Family must’ve blown up your waitlist.

Because acknowledging it would imply much more is needed to address the problems of today and inaction is preferred? What’s your perspective, why?

Jesus Christ that is so fucking funny. Incredible. I feel like the moment you grab the cake while glaring at the camera could be a meme.
