It is just after 2 am here in Los Angeles and the rat trap in my one-and-only bathroom has not caught the rat yet. My cat brought the rat inside, alive, around 8 pm. I just spiced up the bait with chocolate.

This lady (?) was out for a stroll. I pulled up beside her and she kept walking as I took pictures. She stopped walking to look at me, annoyed, a few times. But otherwise she had somewhere to be.

After 10 days in the wild, Diva has returned/ been trapped. She is back inside feeling surly.

Just another night of sitting in my car at 3 am, hoping my missing cat shows up to eat. Calm wind at the moment, but chilly weather.

The fires aren’t over and neither are the winds. I haven’t lost any property, but my cat escaped when I was loading my car for potential evacuation on Tuesday morning. Still no sign of her. Heavy winds could return Monday night. (I have many cats.)

That isn’t a cloud, it’s smoke from the LA fires. Sunrise as I evacuated. I’m back home. Winds are calmer. Air is stinky. I never got into the mandatory evacuation zone, just voluntarily.
What looks like a dark storm cloud filling most of the sky is actually a wall of black smoke from the fire in Altadena, CA. Some cars are in lower frame while we’re all stopped at a red light.

Had to say goodbye to this fella, Crichton, today. Named after the astronaut from Farscape because of his adventurous spirit.

Finding this in Los Angeles at Target was a little jolt of something good I desperately needed this week.
Box of chocolate coated luxury cookies from Marks & Spencer in a beautiful box. The box is deep blue with an ornate yellow and blue most likely fictional bird sitting on a flowering plant branch. In person it is metallic and shiny.

Some pictures from around Descanso Gardens from Friday last week and from today, Monday.

An orange arched bridge over an artificial stream in Japanese architecture style. There are some red lanterns hanging behind it. It is seen reflected in the water which has a gentle ripple on the surface. Some plants are around the bridge and water too. A wee turtle sunning on a rock. The turtle is vibrant colors for this kind of red slider turtle. Probably because it's so young. It has yellow and green stripes on its body and red stripes near its eyes.

Yard Monster!
