One of my favorite things to do the last day! A nice supplement is to ask groups of 3-4 ID 1-2 texts I should teach again and which 1-2 I should drop. Sometimes there's a clear consensus (helpful for me), and other times students realize that their preferences are not universal (helpful for them).
I took advice from folks on here and had students annotate the syllabus in our last class yesterday. It was great for closure/reflection and helpful feedback, with the bonus of a few kind words to tuck away/include in my tenure dossier. I'll for sure be doing this again next semester. #AcademicSky

Heading home to a divided family this holiday season? Some tips on how to navigate political tension from Mathew Levendusky, @stecula.bsky.social, Mandy Fauble, and myself. My biggest takeaway: your goal doesn’t need to be political conversion. And if it doesn’t feel safe, choosing to skip is OK!
Civil discourse: Tips for navigating potentially divisive discussions around the holiday table
“We’re in a really tense time as a nation, and that tension is not just felt at the grand political sphere, but also at more local, proximal levels, like family.”

Facebook/Meta has announced that they are closing down their Crowdtangle app, which provided access to their public data to journalists and researchers. It hasn’t been well-supported for a few years, but it was still useful. This will be another big loss to platform transparency.
