Framing differences in "politics" as orthogonal to differences in "social beliefs" is…specious.

This bit reminds me of the time (~2012ish) a middle-school acquaintance of my kids' described how his dad—a Blackhawk pilot—missed using his helicopter to "herd Mexicans" near the US Mexican border.
