The publishing secret traditional gatekeepers don't tell.

John David spent 30 years in corporate PR before writing a thriller.

The standard advice? Query agents. Get permission. Wait your turn.

The REALITY was much harsher.

Transform your scars into your greatest strength.

But here is the truth most people won't tell you:

You do not have to do it today.

Prison's true impact: not rehabilitation.
We assume incarceration fixes people.
But a clinical psychologist who spent 28 months inside federal prison reveals a much darker reality.
He went in expecting punishment...
He didn't expect a system designed to dismantle the human spirit.

Are we just unlucky or just lost? Without money, it is hard to exist as an adult or at all in a society. Rising income inequality, lowered standard of living and rising costs have all created a difficult situation for Millennials and even some Gen Z.

And where did the money go? It's moving upwards to the wealthy and getting ever more concentrated. That's the great crime of our age.

As someone born in 1988, I feel this post and it inspired me to write a whole book about it called America's Lost Generation. Millennials were an opportunity for our country and we've basically squandered it.

When I was working on America's Lost Generation, one of the trends I knew that had long existed was what I had called, "The Long Depression" where there was no snapback after 2008. It.....never happened. You can get the whole story in my book (link in bio!)

The worst crime the Boomers could do is not let us fix the problems in the economy that are holding Millennials back.

With expenses rising, wages staying stagnate and the job market being difficult, how can anyone save money? For Millennials this has been the chief problem and the only advice is to give up coffee and avocado toast.

Everyone has lived in precarious situations. That isn't new but it is so much more wide-spread. In my new book, America's Lost Generation I interviewed several dozen Millennials. Even those doing well talk about how precarious things are today.

Yeah......being a Millennial isn't fun and games and the worst is part is that it isn't our fault and we probably won't get power in time to fix it.

Shout out to Boomers and Gen Z who won the birth lottery. Leave us and our pogs alone!

THE RENT IS TOO DAMN HIGH!!

Don't we all know it? The reality is that cost of living is out of control while wages struggle to keep up, even after the pandemic.

I love this tweet because it perfectly captures what I discovered in my new book: America's Lost Generation. You can't talk about Millennials without talking about class. The reality is that for those that were slotted into high-paying roles, in the right fields.

It really all does come down to housing, doesn't it? Housing started this economic mess and it is still one of the biggest challenges.

Millennials got screwed, the book tells our story.

Why is our labor force participation rate so low?

It has to do with a series of economic changes that started during the 2008 Great Financial Crisis and it knee-capped an entire generation of people.

Do your toilets flush? Does your water arrive clean? Did you drive on paved roads to your home, the grocery store, and work? Did you have to run off brigands when you left your home? Do you have walls and bars on the windows to protect from roving bands of criminals?

One of the biggest stories about Millennials is pretty simple: we're broke. It is hard to exist without money and that doesn't even cover kids or retirement. What went wrong for America's Lost Generation? What's the future for us? Find out in my book: buff.ly/N7aMt4M

Factory farming is very different than the farming we all have in our heads, and it is more intensive, chemically dependent, and out ot sync with nature than ever. Here's how we fix it!

One thing is clear: shareholder capitalism killed the Middle Class. Where do we go from here?

He takes you through the process where medicine and law meet and conflict. What is the standard of care? What happens when doctors do something wrong and who is qualified to determine that? How does it feel to have your whole career as a surgeon on the line and being talked about by cranks?

One of the things I observed when I originally wrote this essay was the lack of entry-level jobs for young men, making it hard for them to get on the career ladder. But I also noticed a certain malaise, even among older workers.
