There's also a flight to safety effect when stocks seem uncertain which i imagine would be driving a bit of this

can I just ask if you are in your early 20s/late 10s in what way have things been getting better since your childhood?

There is another dimension to the modern Tory left which is class. A lot of the reason why the Tory Wets never left and joined the social democrats in early 80s was because the tories were the upper class party. I am not so sure that barrier exists any more

No that's wrong because most parliamentary democracies have codified constitutions. Britain is just one of the few that does not, hence why it is the UK that is called an 'elective dictatorship', not all parliamentary democracies.

What's you reasoning behind putting 70s Crosland in the Blunkettite camp? From the Future of Socialism, my guess would have been he would have been a pretty solid Jenkins' vein

It is just silly to use just one of the GDP estimates for a particular month which are notoriously inaccurate to pronounce the efficacy of economic policy. It’s like claiming Gladiator 2 bombed because the Cineworld in Swindon looked a bit empty last Tuesday

really interesting to see that with the *general trend* of grads towards the centre-left, the two Labour candidates did surprisingly poorly. Would be interested to see the age breakdown of votes.
