A few weeks ago, former Republican New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, rather than launching a campaign for a Senate seat in which he would have been under heavy pressure to avoid exercising any of the legislative or “advice and consent” prerogatives granted to him by the Constitution, chose to take a job running an airline industry trade association. Ten years ago the American left would have likely rolled its eyes about this—another turn of the corrupt revolving door, pathetic. But now? Chris Sununu is a courageous ally in the perpetuation of civil society, of the peaceful interface between business and government. God bless him. Bill Kristol, once the country’s most prominent conservative intellectual, is now essentially a Democrat, and not only because he shares Democrats’ personal aversion to the Orange Man. As crazy as it might seem, Kristol and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez actually have a mutual interest in restoring some of the previous status quo. It’s rational for them to be part of the same coalition.

I really noticed it in this paragraph
Our view of the social horizon has steadily shortened. And now we just stare at ourselves. The demands of the present are inward-looking: more permissiveness, more tolerance, more autonomy for the individual. The new social horizon, it seems, is to be left alone. What’s more, a futureless left refuses to consider how the battles it picks today — from the liberalization of drug laws to the dismissal of social norms — affect tomorrow’s political ends.

Then why does this paragraph say omega-6 fatty acid "can cause" inflammation, when there's no actual evidence they can?
"The concern over seed oils is rooted in their higher levels of omega-6 fatty acids, which can cause inflammation. Omega-6 fatty acids have become a larger part of the American diet over the course of the 20th century, specifically with massive increases in ingestion of soybean and canola oil since the 1980s. And there’s the issue that most commercially available seed oils are highly processed foods, produced with chemical solvents like hexane. The EU limits how much residual hexane can be in seed oils, while the FDA does not monitor hexane residue at all."

This isn't the exact passage I was thinking of but it's close enough. From September 1972:

McGovern made some stupid mistakes, but in context they seem almost frivolous compared to the things Richard Nixon does every day of his life, on purpose, as a matter of policy and a perfect expression of everything he stands for. Jesus! Where will it end?
