I think part of it is rooted in validation of their trauma's severity. "It was evidently so bad it created this state of multiplicity." The existence of endogenics threatens the foundation of that validity. But trauma is trauma. Plurality isn't proof it was severe.

The US healthcare system is failing. Things get ugly when people are desperate. I don’t condone the killing, but I understand it. If only there was this much angst over the thousands of people who due every year because insurance they paid for denied coverage.
