same thing with mama. she talks a lot about religion, and i love christian theology, though im not a christian myself. but i try adding to the conversation but since my points are neutral, mama gets mad at me. so it's a bit hard to be social with them.

if they can bring God's kingdom to earth, im not gonna oppose. i don't think it's so much of an ideological difference but more about the approach, they're more radical (which is cool), but im more of a moderate (im a chud centrist)

this is not to dunk on communists or leftists, im in no way anti communist or anti left, it's more about how dangerous the allure of this imaginary soviet world can be cross the line to revisionism, and no matter your ideology, it's important to always keep this in mind

our generation is reacting to this old propaganda. i see many defending these old regimes based on what these illustrations and messages sell, people believing that the beautiful world these illustrations present was the reality of soviets and their allies

this week i've been following a tiktok drama of a person glazing the hell out of north korea, defending them so hard and spreading misinformation because they (supposedly) align with the political ideals of this person. it goes to show just how powerful these illustrations and messages are.

the amazing thing of soviet propaganda is that now in our current era, these illustrations could be distant, maybe irrelevant. but more than 50~ years later, they touch our generation to the point of convincing them, to support an empire that no longer exists, and that harmed many

to me, soviet propaganda is the perfect example of "you're not immune to propaganda". even after the fall of the USSR, their propaganda has carried a legacy that for many leftists of my generation is the true lived experiences of soviet citizens.

i always think of these illustrations as "a perfect world in another universe". i do not identify as a communist, and im not so much of a leftist, so my admiration is not entirely* political
