Hello comrades! Demian here. I was discharged from the hospital a few weeks ago; after five operations I know that the recovery process is very tough, and eating will be a challenge for the next few months.
Operation update: chaos and pain, but we're on track! Hello comrades! Demian here. I was discharged from the hospital a few weeks ago; after five operations I know that the recovery process is very tough, and eating will be a challenge for the next few months. During the operation, they found severe adhesion syndrome (after so many operations, the colon tends to “stick” to parts of the body, causing enormous pain) and a hole in my colon through which fluid was leaking, creating collections (which also caused me pain). The good news is that my colon was not affected by Crohn's disease, so the severe pain I have been experiencing for more than two years is due to the consequences of my operations, not to active Crohn's disease. I will follow the recommendations to prevent adhesions from forming again, but there is a large margin of error that I cannot control. Let's hope that this time I have a little more luck! This hospitalization has been hard, not only because of the surgery and Long COVID, which is completely ignored by doctors, but also because the fact that masks are not mandatory in hospitals creates a culture of trivializing infections that affects those who need to be cared for and not infected. I encourage you to campaign for mandatory masks in healthcare. I can provide materials, help with coordination, etc.! Hugs to everyone! Actualización de operación: caos y dolor pero vamos encaminados! Hola camaradas! Aquí Demian. He salido del alta de la operación hace unas semanas, después de 5 operaciones ya sé que el proceso de recuperación es durísimo, comer será un reto los próximos meses. En la operación han encontrado un síndrome severo de adherencia (después de tantas operaciones el colon tiende a “pegarse” a partes del cuerpo y eso crea enorme dolor) y un agujero en mi colon por el que salía liquido que creaba las colecciones (que también me generaban dolor). El lado bueno es que no había colon afectado por el Crohn, así que este dolor severo que llevo teniendo desde hace más de 2 años es por las consecuencias de mis operaciones, no por un Crohn activado. Seguiré las recomendaciones para que no se vuelvan a crear adherencias, pero hay un gran margen de error que no controlo. Esperemos que esta vez haya algo más de suerte! Este ingreso ha sido duro ya no solo por la operación y el Long COVID que es completamente silenciado por los médicos, sino también por el hecho de que no haya mascarillas obligatorias en los hospitales hace que haya una cultura de banalización de infecciones que afecta a los que necesitan ser cuidados y no infectados. Animo a que se hagas campañas de mascarillas obligatorias en sanidad, puedo dar material, ayudar con la coordinación etc! Un abrazo a todes!

This operation means a lot to me. After it, I'll be able to discuss with the doctors what to do about my Long COVID, endometriosis, and Crohn's disease. It'll be a tough few months of recovery, and I already know I'll be at my limit. Thanks to all the friends who have been able to help with my fundraising campaign. I will have a lot to share and write about during my recovery journey, and one of the first things I will do when I have the energy is to organize COVID-Conscious gatherings. Being in the hospital further highlights the necessity of wearing a mask as a form of anti-capitalist care, and connecting with people who already share this view is out of this world. Nothing else, comrades! We will keep in touch, and I'll keep you updated as soon as I can. Keep fighting, keep wearing masks! Don't forget that the worst enemy of patients in the hospital is infection. Help us avoid getting sick!

I've been insisting to the doctors about my pain since 2023. After a long wait, 4 admissions in 2025, and much insistence, they called me in for the operation I'll have in a few weeks. I'll be relatively inactive. I take radical rest very seriously. We're talking about surgery that will open a 30 cm incision in my stomach to cut through my intestines, and all this with my malnutrition due to declining health. It's going to be tough, although with my previous experience with surgeries, I can prepare much better.

In most conversations with other COVID-conscious people, the idea that "nothing can be done" comes up.

I think we need 3 spaces: 1) anti-capitalist analysis; 2) anti-capitalist mourning; 3) anti-capitalist actions.
In most conversations with other COVID-conscious people, the idea that "nothing can be done" comes up, sometimes disguised as "people are ableist and selfish, so they won't do anything," and other times directly as "human beings are horrible." The community is hurt, and this kind of thinking doesn't help us process our emotions or move forward. I think we need three spaces: 1) anti-capitalist analysis; 2) anti-capitalist mourning; 3) anti-capitalist actio 1) anti-capitalist analysis to raise political consciousness, understand how state propaganda works, and provide other examples of popular health self-defense struggles to inspire us; 2) anti-capitalist mourning where we can move from "nothing can be done" to "we have more power than we think," support each other emotionally, and talk about our deaths, the deaths of others, disability and mass death, and what hurts us; 3) Anti-capitalist actions are the way to combine steps one and two, ideas like campaigns for mandatory masks in health centers, distributing other forms of health sovereignty like pads, tampons, and narcan, children must be cared for and not infected, a mask campaign for schools... and much more.

He pasado una buena parte de mi vida tratando de reprimir, evitar y huir de las emociones difíciles. Dolor, tristeza, decepción, vergüenza / culpa, resentimiento, ira, agobio, conmoción, confusión, dolor, celos, etc. Todos estos sentimientos pesados, dolorosos e incómodos que inevitablemente se asientan profundamente en nuestro cuerpo y alma se enmarcan como "malos" e indeseables. Pero la felicidad NO PUEDE existir sin tristeza. La alegría no puede existir sin dolor, al igual que la luz del sol no puede existir sin noches oscuras iluminadas solo por la luz de la luna. Sin embargo, la tristeza abrumadora puede aplastar nuestra voluntad de vivir, así que si la tristeza es realmente buena para nosotres, entonces ¿por qué somos diezmados por ella? Las emociones son fundamentalmente relacionales, no experiencias individuales que emergen desde dentro en un vacío. Realmente no podemos SENTIR nada de forma aislada. Los sentimientos son los hilos que nos conectan con nuestros ecosistemas (otras personas, seres, la tierra)— Entonces, ¿cómo podemos llevarlos nosotres solos?
