I’ve written something on John Collison’s Op-Ed and environmental democracy

Next time you’re out in Dublin, check if you’re being “socially de-risked” by a friendly face from his think-tank

This is so ludicrous. The fact that the US is reneging on a pledge of a paltry $17m shows that not only is there no political backlash for climate inaction, but it's actually seen as a positive for the current administration.

Quite the judgment today from Judge Richard Humphries, at one point likening efforts by Bord Pleanála to limit their responsibilities re #climatecrisis to Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

“an immediate end to business as usual is a precondition for planetary survival.”

Does anyone on #spéirgorm know if Silvopastoral systems like this are being used in Ireland? I'm wondering if it would be as effective here.

NEW PAPER: The 2022 fossil fuel price jumps caused an oil and gas profit explosion. We show the US reaped the largest profit increase (USD 275bn) of any country. Big Oil claims this benefits the American people. In fact, 51% went to the richest 1%, only 1% to the bottom 50%. A 🧵

It’s 15 degrees today on the eve of December and I’m watching the Green Party get wiped out of government in #ge24. So sad to see only 4% of voters have the #climatecrisis as their top issue. #spéirgorm #climate

Just a reminder to everyone going to the polls for #ge24 that cares about #climate - the debate this week proved that the main parties have no intention of greening their policies - if you want climate action, vote for it tomorrow. Voting for FF / FG / SF is voting for status quo climate policy.
