Yup!

Notice how many republican investigations do NOT end up in a conviction. The point of their investigations is often just the $$, time, and damage to the person’s reputation.

I’d be afraid of the cost to fight it, the time it would take out of my life, and the impact it will have on my reputation.

Dump and Bondi don’t really care if he gets convicted. They just want to cause him trouble and send a message to anyone else who might want to do something Dump doesn’t like.

Nah. Make them long drawn out consequences so he can “enjoy” them longer.

It’s interesting how perceptions change with age. When I was in 7th grade I thought my 45 year old dad was too old to be pulling grape vines out of the trees in our yard. I was doing the same a couple weeks ago - at age 76.

The resulting damage to our economy will be bad. The “cherry on top” is that it may not [probably won’t?] be obvious before the next election - which is likely to be democrat and then the right wing will blame it on the democrat.
May 9, 2025 at 11:31 PM
And the looong term implications of all the damage republicans have done by electing this man a second time are dire. Our allies and trading partners no longer trust us. The disruption this will cause to our markets, our economy, and our security will become more and more apparent as the years go on

More pins! More pins!

Problem is that they aren’t rejecting what their eyes see and their ears hear. All they see or hear is what’s on Fox and other right wing stations. I.e., lies, half truths, and misinformation.
January 10, 2025 at 9:00 PM
I disagree. Not for that lying, cheating,... Besides, that would give his supporters another excuse to say, “See, he didn’t do anything wrong.” It would also give future office holders an excuse to get away with their crimes. If Nixon hadn’t been pardoned I don’t think all this would have happened.

And @donaldjtrumpjnr.bsky.social is complaining about other people’s competency! 🤣🤣🤣
January 9, 2025 at 11:00 PM
Why not? My understanding is they were sworn in to complete a
vacated position. Do you want them to fill that position without being sworn in?
December 10, 2024 at 7:37 AM
Ifyew, I disagree. A *proper* education teaches you to think and question your beliefs. It teaches you that there are usually many sides to every issue and no matter how smart you think you are, you don’t know everything about any subject. It teaches that nothing is as simple as it first seems.

The desire to rehabilitate requires a level of empathy that most don’t have. My empathy for those not doing well in life changed dramatically when my own stepbrother whose father was a drunk told me he thought he’d be just like him until my father came into his life changing his attitude completely.
November 30, 2024 at 6:22 PM
Another example of my belief that nothing is simple.
November 30, 2024 at 6:12 PM
What’d you say? 😁
November 29, 2024 at 5:50 AM
Unfortunately it’s not simple. Neither of us presented the whole story. And there’s also the human side. Is increased profits worth destroying the middle class? That’s what we’ve been doing for at last 40 years.
At only 300 chars here, I’ll skip the next 2000+ needed for a more complete answer.

A 2% cut for 80k taxable (100k gross??) is $1600. That’s less than 2% of that 100k gross.

A 2% cut of a 10 million salary is nearly 200k. That’s 2 years salary for that middle class guy.

And it’s even worse because the higher rates got reduced more.

Tax cuts screwed the middle class.
November 28, 2024 at 6:07 PM
Yep. I’ve been saying for years that one of the biggest reasons for the demise of the middle class has been all the tax cuts. The lower rates (paid by most of us) haven’t really changed that much. The rates for the rich have gone down a lot. Consider this …
November 28, 2024 at 6:02 PM
The *effective* rate was never as high as 75%. MAYBE for 1 or 2 very, very, very profitable companies. The highest *marginal* rate was 90% but virtually nobody paid it because they spent the money investing in the business and employees to take advantage of deductions.
November 28, 2024 at 5:49 PM
Check your facts. Tax revenue goes up when … taxes are cut, taxes are raised, and taxes aren’t changed. Tax revenue only goes down in a recession. Higher corp tax rates encourage(d) investments in businesses and employees in order to take advantage of deductions. Only profits are taxed.

Why do you feel the need to label them as weirdos? Let’s leave out the emotional name calling. It doesn’t add any validity to your comment. In fact, it detracts from it.
November 27, 2024 at 7:38 PM
I feel like it’s closer to “people who aren’t like me” or maybe even “aren’t in my circle of friends”.
Those on the right would say they don’t exploit people. That’s because they don’t even consider (have empathy for) anyone outside their own social circle. I.e., “I don’t exploit my friends.”
