Trump was booed loudly and relentlessly for over 2 minutes as he was introduced to the crowd in a luxury box at the Washington Commanders game. He appeared rattled and upset since he is used to only worship and praise at his carefully scripted and choreographed events. He left the game early and did not look happy. Mike Johnson and Pete Hegseth were also with him in the box. … Maybe this will get Commanders’ billionaire owner Josh Harris to back off his rumored plans to name their new stadium after Trump (which Trump has been lobbying for), since it is clear his team’s entire fan base despises him.

The senator was referring to a reported GOP demand that any extension of ACA subsidies must include language that bars the tax credits from being used to purchase plans that cover abortion care. But as the health policy organization KFF has noted, the ACA already has “specific language that applies Hyde Amendment restrictions to the use of premium tax credits, limiting them to using federal funds to pay for abortions only in cases that endanger the life of the woman or that are a result of rape or incest.” “The ACA also explicitly allows states to bar all plans participating in the state marketplace from covering abortions, which 25 states have done since the ACA was signed into law in 2010,” according to KFF. Wyden said Saturday—which marked day 39 of the shutdown—that “Republicans are spinning a tale that the government is funding abortion.” “It’s not,” Wyden continued. “What Republicans are talking about putting on the table amounts to nothing short of a backdoor national abortion ban. Under this plan, Republicans could weaponize federal funding for any organization that does anything related to women’s reproductive healthcare. They could also weaponize the tax code by revoking non-profit status for these organizations.”

In case you were wondering why Donald the Terrible is using the diversionary tactic of yelling at insurance companies...the regressive & inflationary taxes, I mean tariffs, I mean taxes strike again!
Kobeissi: “US car insurance costs are set to hit another record: Average annual premiums are expected to rise +4% by the end of 2025 to a record $2,402. The national average cost of full-coverage car insurance could climb as much as +7%, to $2,472.” … I posted back in August that when Trump raised tariffs on auto parts it was going to cause car insurance rates to rise because they pay for most car repairs. And it is happening.

As Trump’s approval rating sinks to a dismal 37% this week, he posted that he wants to give everyone $2,000 in free money: “People that are against Tariffs are FOOLS! We are taking in Trillions of Dollars and will soon begin paying down our ENORMOUS DEBT, $37 Trillion. A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people!) will be paid to everyone.” … I think this is the 5th or 6th time he’s posted about giving people checks out of tariff revenue. But the amount goes up each time. … The US has taken in $150 billion from tariffs, not trillions. US National Debt is $38 trillion. It went up $1 trillion in just the last month thanks to Trump’s huge tax cuts for the wealthy. It would also take an act of Congress to appropriate the money. Also, paying out $2,000 per person comes to $6.7 trillion which is a little more than the $150 billion in tariff money we took in.

In any event, Chuck Schumer must go:
Many senate Dems are upset that all they are getting is a guaranteed vote in the senate with no commitment from Mike Johnson to do anything in the House. If an extension of the ACA subsidies ultimately doesn’t pass and 22 million Americans see their premiums skyrocket, it will be good for Dems politically in the midterms because the blame will be squarely on Republicans after a bitter fight by Dems. But more importantly it will be really bad for millions of people. … But it will also be the end of Schumer. If Dems don’t replace him as leader soon if this fails, the voters will eventually. It will also be impossible to win a contested Democratic primary without pledging to vote against Schumer as leader. But if, by some miracle, ACA subsidies pass the House and Senate and are signed into law by Trump, Schumer will be a hero. I wouldn’t bet on it.
