Re-designing an old OC

I've had Argeír for... well over a decade. He was originally designed by deviantart user Julkkuli and I didn't feel like changing anything major, but I did make the palette a bit more cohesive... and the markings more tabby cat-ish.

He has a bright green mane down his neck and longer green tufts around what i'd call the elbows of his birdlike front feet. Argeír got a gray hooked bill and long ears. His tail is also very long and fluffy, with a gradient from warm brown to light brown and raccoon-like dark brown stripes. His wings are gray and desaturated blue. A recent drawing of Argeír, in a similar landing pose. His dark brown markings are now less uniform and look more swirly, like tabby cat's. The wings are now gray and desaturated green.

It's been about 15 years since I last touched coloured pencils. Some art god reached down and possessed my hand to make this ig. Laelia got a full spa experience for the first time in their life, all is good in life (for now, before The Horrors catch up lol)

Recently participated in a yokai themed exhibition/zine project and illustrated an oogama for it! Japanese toads are already neat as they are, and a gigantic one spewing rainbows sounds right up my alley

Of course at the start of July and ArtFight I end up with a job task that takes 11 consecutive days, mostly overtime too 😩 At least one (1) place was pretty and not just some clear cut forest with nothing but turned over stumps left.

So in March I had this dream about a TTRPG campaign, where my character was this tall insect guy. The idea stuck (probably because he was the fighter/strength build type and I normally gravitate towards the int/wis classes) and I ended up turning him into an actual OC #art #oc #CalsOCs

New pair of wooly socks completed, this time with a simple repeating pattern. The colours lined wonderfully with the pattern changes, very nice. Deffo going to be a warm pair, with the amount of extra thread running on the inside for the whole length!

My leg in a wooly sock that is patterned with rainbow-coloured tilted rectangles on a solid black base. The socks laid down flat on the floor to hopefully show the rectangle pattern better.

Some DnD doodles of my druid Laelia from past couple of sessions. Went off to search for missing people and got beaten up (my baby tanked 24 damage with their 8 to 10 hp after a level up) but at least we found the people and lived to tell the tale😂

Okay, take two at the hourly comic day! Now scanned!
Black-and-white sketches in 6 boxes. 9:30: wake up and snooze to finish the dream that got interrupted (me bundled up in my bed). 10-11: Lay in bed and browse social media, plot with the DnD DM (me, still in bed but now fiddling with the phone instead). 11-12: Breakfast. Playing Honkai: Star Rail while waiting (leaning on one hand, fiddling with the phone on another, looking pretty weary with a coffee cup on the table). 12-13: Updating bujos and getting derailed from monthly spreads to long term journal (a sketch of the journals stacked on top of each other and the multiple washi rolls scattered around). 13-14 Lunch (drippy-nosed, slightly disgruntled Cal outside holding a grilled sausage). 15-22: DnD with friends, mega anxious about first dungeon crawl and combat (me in front of my pc, one hand on the mouse and other in my hair, staring at the screen). Continuing with b&w sketchy style. 23-24: Post-game yapping and evening snack time, doodling panels (drawing myself sketching with a pencil, shrimp pose, nervous sweat and all). 1-2: Catching up with my gachas and finishing the panels (doodles of the currencies of Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero and Honkai: Star Rail. no Wuwa because I got tired and didn't play). Under the panels is a text reading "I absolutely failed the task of drawing hourly lol" and this is very true. Beside the text I also drew my DnD character of our champaign, Laelia the dragonborn druid. They were the first one to take damage, so I sketched them sitting down cross-legged, inspecting their torn shirt and sighing in displeasure. "This is going to be a pain to patch..."
