Been reading about notorious dictator President Mobutu from Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the parallels to Trump are striking.

"Mobutu demanded absolute personal allegiance in return for the opportunity to accumulate wealth"

Went to Scottish Ballet's relaxed performance of The Nutcracker yesterday, and this wee girl near me was asking some very legitimate questions.
- Why aren't they using real snow?
- Why is she spinning around?
- Where is the nutcracker?

Farewell Bradford, I had a delightful time, very chilly but also very charming. Would like to return for a longer trip at some point. Maybe even to catch some more of the #bradford2025 events.

Nice evening celebrating 30 years of Birds of Paradise Theatre Company. There's obvs a way to go in the creative access world but events like this eve also demonstrate how far we have come in recent years also.

Personal challenge: can I read all three Wolf Hall novels before the new series comes out.

Had a lovely time hosting Artlink's 40th anniversary last night. A wonderful charity doing excellent work, and even The Lord Provost of Edinburgh (and his mighty fine chain) came to join in the celebrations.
