#5 The battle belongs to God. David is clear that he isn't facing Goliath alone. His confidence is rooted in faith. We also carry the subversive power of God’s love with us. We don’t need more muscles than the giants, but more hope. We don’t need bigger weapons than them, but more conviction.

#4 You won't beat giants by becoming them. God doesn't save by the sword, God empowers the humble, meek, and righteous. If we want to beat giants, we must be their opposite. We can’t stand alone, but must stand together. We can’t harass and heckle our enemies, but must defend our neighbor’s dignity.

#3 Giants underestimate the little things. Goliath either doesn't know how to dodge, or doesn't think he needs to. A pebble kills him before he can raise his sword. Small things beat giants. Do small actions with great love for humanity. That is a strength that giants will never possess.

#2 Use the strengths you have. Saul doubts David's abilities, but David’s response is basically "I’ve faced worse things and won.” Don't let anyone belittle your gifts. You don't need armor or weapons that aren't yours. Take down giants using the skills you've already sharpened. You are equipped!

#1 Face the giants. This seems obvious but remember that Goliath terrorized them for 40 days without having to fight anyone. He just has to be scary enough that they stay in their tents. They listen to him and are terrorized into non-action. Don’t give giants the luxury of going unresisted.
