You called?
81 degrees at the Merriest Place on Earth and I am. Just. Not. Feeling it, yet.

In case you had not heard, you can catch me on Oct. 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, or 31 as I officially carve pumpkins at the Disneyland Resort. I will be at the Disneyland Hotel from noon to 3 and the Grand Californian from 5-8. Stop by and say hello!

Where else would I be on my birthday?

THIS Marvin A. Davis, who was so very busy in August-September 1953?

And they do get around…

By this point I just think of Herb Ryman’s tree the way I think of Shamu. It’s more of a concept than an actual whale.

Note to self: If it’s too big for carry-on, perhaps it’s not a good souvenir to purchase…

While you’re at it, would you get this one for me? (And thank you for your sacrifice.)

Bill Bixby directing the “Disneyland episode” of Blossom in 1993.

Now this, this, is an historical marker. On a legitimately historical property.

Here is a Casey Jr. photo I have always liked. From the Oct.-Nov. 1965 The Disney World magazine, it illustrates a story about machinist Dewey Dempsey, the first employee to retire under the Walt Disney Productions and Associated Companies Pension Plan.

O. M. W. They actually did it.

I’ll start: “Although small” (and a dedicated space within a structure), it has the ability to sit.

Discuss.

We need MORE! Why have they neglected the historical
Import of… bench!

And, why… exactly?

I was honored to do my part to support the annual San Diego Comic Con Robert Heinlein Blood Drive by donating two units today. And how appropriate to do so while cosplaying Dr. John Hammond from Jurassic Park.

It’s easy for me to choose my favorite version…

Nope.

They completely missed the part about when it was a TV studio…

(From the 1955 Little Golden Book “Disneyland on the Air.”)

I suppose we could organize the Main Street Pedantical Society and go around “correcting” the fictive historical markets. I will start by leaving these here…

A pedantic reminder that #Disneyland first opened its doors to guests on July 18, 1955. Today marks the 70th anniversary of the day invited guests celebrated the dedication of the park for a live, televised event.

Although I failed to get a classic castle photo in 1972, I did manage one for my second trip in 1987. And, of course, I made sure to get that traditional pose with the security camera monitors on the loading platform of the PeopleMover. (I know, I know. Such a cliche…)

Ay yi yi. I was literally procrastinating culling and organizing books when I ran across this. Thanks! Now I am really second guessing if I should even start…

I really appreciate that the Kelly Comras book on Ruth Shellhorn includes so many planting plans, but they are reproduced so small it is nearly impossible to decipher the labels. Here is her plan for the entry, with planters and trees flanking the station.
