Find new angles by shifting perspective: What would the villain say? How would it play out in another genre? What if the opposite were true? What could cause roles or motivations to reverse? Twist, flip, and break the idea until something clicks.

Yea, that’s always a good feeling. Unless it’s someone else’s pen and then I have a moment, max like two or three seconds, where I feel guilty for having to subsequently steal the pen.

But it’s their fault. They knew it was a great pen when they let me borrow it. They should’ve known.
