I feel like that approach worked well, asking questions & calling him out in a direct but non confrontational way 💯💪🏻

Then I asked how anyone would know his buttons were about rent control when they didn’t say anything about it

I told him it’s a dog whistle to make buttons with that message, the buttons should have a message that’s clear & easy to understand

He agreed & left shortly after ✊🏻

I said sure some people fled Venezuela because of the government…I’m sure those people still love their homeland & their friends and family because their loved ones are not the government

He reluctantly agreed

I said LA is home is many Latinos and I love my Latino community

I asked if he thought that was offensive to people from Venezuela, reminded him that LA is home to people from Venezuela 🇻🇪

He said those people fled because their government is oppressive, they’d agree with it!

I politely asked him what the button meant…he said that someone complained their DON’T LA OUR BURBANK buttons were racist towards Mexicans, so the group changed them to DON’T VENEZUELA OUR BURBANK
