Completely agree with everything you say. I'm always struggling with how do you make peoples lives better now while also thinking about systemic change.
The challenge we face as organizers now is what campaigns lead to small wins that gets us decommodified housing in the end.

While rent control is something that matters to me personally idk if that need to happen simultaneously. The problem with a free market system is that everyone will be competing for that extra money. While I'd love for them to happen at once we should put strong limitations stop good policy.

But they aren't made by those people. They are made by people like Donald Trump who's Rich dad gave him a bunch of money to invest in low income housing. And because our future is controlled by people who are born in power he ran it into the ground and than fucked off.

So when you say political pressure you mean what exactly? When I think that, I think capitalist influence which is what market influence literally is.

I'm not gonna sit here and defend the government. But at least there are ways into influence/elect/ and hold them accountable that are just not possible for private individuals and groups. Would I love to see more housing co-ops? Sure but we just need shit built first.

Landlords don't care and people that don't care about their property all they care about is money. Everything you hate and are afraid of happening happens now everywhere. You are throwing people like my grandma under the bus to prevent something that's already happening.

Yep that's true that's definitely what the government exists to do. Public housing is extremely desirable for a lot of people in America and in other parts of the world.
