It sounds amazing. I CANNOT wait to read your novel when it’s done. Good luck with the next draft x

Hutchinson and Tayleure’s Grand Palace of Variety stood at the end of a long footbridge, caught beneath the silver light of a full moon. The building’s wooden skeleton creaked like the hull of a ship on a great voyage as the doors opened and the crowd filed in, eager to hear the dead speak #WriteCBC

So sorry to hear that, Sara. You’ve built something wonderful over the last 4 years and helped so many writers whether they’ve been listed in the prize or not. I’m looking forward to everything you have planned and hopefully Cheshire novel prize will be back one day x

Darkness makes the small sounds loud. Creak.Rustle. Footsteps on floorboards. A scream claws the back of her throat. She swallows it. The shadow comes closer. Closer. She fumbles for a light and with a scratch of sulphur the match blooms. There’s nothing. Creak.Rustle. The match puffs out. #WriteCBC

The Black Ribbon carved its way through the city like a scar; its filthy waters darkened by more than just the coal that came in horse-drawn barges from the valleys. All the unwanted things were there: the babies, the whores, the suicides. As Evelyn drew close the lost souls called to her. #WriteCBC
