Honestly it hurts my heart to think another animal lover would ever consider this amusing. It’s truly not. By not marking your glass, you are causing harm. Thanks for keeping kitties inside! That’s awesome but your glass requires treatment. Thank you!

Markings need to be on exterior and no more than 2” apart. Or 4” if using Acopian BirdSavers.

Hi Prof. Please speak with Operations and have that glass marked asap.

Thank you for posting this. This is exactly right! Theres also misinformation in the other replies about how to effectively mark one’s glass. OP and others, please refer to this poster and take this quote seriously.

Morning! Any chance we could seek your help to get that glass effectively treated for window strikes? 💕

Warning: deceased bird.

Calgary’s glass takes out one of our official City Bird.

I always wonder which species of bird would be the one to finally encourage a person or family to mark their glass.

This Is downtown but happens at homes too. Let’s get all the glass marked

Omg omg omg! This isn’t half bad! Look at those wee legs! (Pic of my laptop screen 🥰). Thanks for sharing this moment with me. Lol. So exciting to get a lucky shot as a beginner photographer. 🥰

Hi Chris! We observed a nest being built beside 5th Ave Place downtown Calgary. There were 4 adults building it! I wondered if last years’ juveniles were hanging about to learn and help with nest building. I can’t think of another explanation?

Oh my FAVOURITE thing is happily catching window markings in the background of media.

This almost appears to be indoors? Maybe a demo? Not sure but love it! This you, @featherfriendly? #SaveBirds

@globalnews.ca May as well tag @vancityreynolds.bsky.social as I cannot find #VanCityHall here. Lol

I’m not sure if you are aware but they require professional rehabber to assess, treat and care for these injured birds.

Just as we wouldn’t just let a car accident victim shake off a head injury, we must take these injuries more seriously too.

If you want to have your heart broken, find a Brown Creeper that needlessly because of an unmarked window and confusing lights.

All losses hurt. Brown creepers come with a gut punch. Here’s one that died in Calgary on October 5, 2021. 💔😡

Save the little brown creepy birds. And all the birds.

If you are excited for the arrival of Spring #Warblers, please take a moment to consider whether your own home is hazardous? Please make plans NOW to treat your glass effectively.

A dead bird is the worst way to find a #lifer.

Dirty windows are definitely not effective. Sorry. Feather Friendly is one of the best solutions out there. Of course nothing is entirely fool proof but we all must make things as safe as possible. Feeder location needs to be FAR or right at building AND mark all glass.

Oh my gosh!! The bats!!! 😍😍😍. Do you know which species?? Thanks for sharing!

By marking one’s glass (effectively!), it’s one of the most immediate and individually powerful conservation effort one can make….becoming a safe habitat in one’s own space IMMEDIATELY saving birds.

A “Banff” in the UK, you say? Oh my! I didn’t realize! Now I’m wondering if Banff, AB 🇨🇦 is named for Banff, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🤔 Hmm!

Love this. Hoping everyone stays safe with that crummy weather.

#Birder friends! Have you had a #lifer recently? What was it?

Also….have you marked your glass at home? Are birds safe flying near your dwelling?
December 29, 2024 at 4:48 AM
First step to truly care for an #UrbanEnvironment? Mark. One’s. Glass.

Millions of birds dying and how many have actually taken that step at their home? At their office? Honestly, nearly none and it’s not okay.
