It's happening in Canada too (and compounded by huge threats to the sustainability of the post-secondary sector due to new rules about international student visas, which is affecting faculty morale)

I see this also academically. I remember "browsing" the stacks and finding resources that I didn't locate through a search engine, but now, students don't do that and solely rely on the results of the (first page) of a search

Germ theory was barely even a thing before 1870s and the advancements in microscope technology. It was all about miasma and "bad air"
