IL just passed the governance, planning, and funding reforms needed to make this vision a reality. Will CA do what it takes to make #Electrolink happen?

California also spends less per person on transit capital than Utah. California is spending about 2x more but has more than 10x the population - and in a less efficient manner with more uncertainty and overhead. If Utah, a red state, can spend on rail, why can't California?

While CA spends more in total, there's no plan more than 3 years out. And Utah spends 10x more per area served by transit, as most of the state lives in the Wasatch Front. Plus, money goes farther in a 5-year investment framework than with CA's competitive grants. bsky.app/profile/cale...
The amount budgeted for *all* transit, not just regional rail - is far less than we need to complete the State Rail Plan on time. And starting soon, all of it will be awarded as competitive grants that cause years of delay. CA urgently needs to fix funding to meet climate goals.

Metrolink and LOSSAN could do so more more if they had High-Speed Rail's continuous funding allocation or level of staffing. We need governance reform to rehabilitate these agencies into entities that can actually build. transweb.sjsu.edu/sites/defaul...
