frank definitely parallels that with karen and yet we still get this forced karen/matt nonsense despite being shown their almost sibling like dynamic b/c of their shared traits

matt seems to deliberately ignore this and act like she’s somehow figured out something he hasnt about that particular personality trait while in reality she also is drowning in doubt and self hate
meanwhile frank is fully aware of the multitudes karen contains and respects it

the issue with matt and karen is that in theory matt likes the whole pursuit of justice and truth at any cost thing but in reality its 1 of the many traits in himself that has imploded his life/relationships that he kind of hates until SOMEONE (foggy) points out that its not necessarily a bad thing

foggy is very much matt’s Person and while they fight frequently it comes from a place and genuine care and love compared to the manipulative bullshit matt normally has to deal with

no point to legal work anymore b/c its not helping anymore but ofc when he gets his feelers on foggys last case suddenly the law is good again

and the morality struggles that he straight up admits he struggles with without foggy

foggy definitely brings out matt’s better traits

so far we’ve seen matt descend into mania and depression without him around and no one around him seems to be able to help him help himself (not even the therapist gf…)
