Tonight in #over/under me and the crew showed up in full holy regalia to a vibe that was ultimately more "house party" than "gala" and it was great

yesterday while playing magic i had Cloud, Amy Rose, and Sephiroth all on the board. Amy had genova cells added to her. everybody was a Sephiroth clone. i lost

been playing Sol Cesto as my coffee game and I'm really enjoying it! Amazing example of the widest range of feelings achieved with the simplest possible rules. it's only on PC right now in early access but i'm desperate to have it on my phone one day

Here's another part of my semi-autobiographical post on expressionist game design that I like. I found this way of thinking about acting very challenging at first, as an intuitive "work myself up in order to cry" kind of performer. But real craft in art is about developing care and consistency.
One of my acting professors said, "It is not the job of the actor to feel. It is the actor's job to create feeling in the audience. If you're busy feeling, you're wasting everybody's time." I take this approach very seriously, now, in everything I create. I use my feelings to generate material, but I prepare for others with their feelings in mind. I often remind myself of that professor's words with a bastardization like: "It is not the job of the rules to feel. It is the rulebook's job to create feeling in the characters." I don't think it's always true, but it's how I like to approach my work.
