Surely this was more to do with the fact that it was pissing it down, teams didn’t want to play a slippery ball through the hands?

I personally don’t think so, but I understand where people are coming from. Tonight against Ireland should give a better idea of where they’re at hopefully.

They beat Ireland at home last year, nearly beat (weaker) FRA side away. They also pushed NZ and SA hard in the autumn. They’ve been in the fight against everyone they faced in 2024 but have fallen away last 20. Wins this year against France and Scotland at home are achievable.

I definitely think there is truth in this, especially for T2 teams in internationals (Fiji being a good example). However, I think it’s also quite easy to interpret results against you as biased if you watch a game with that preconception.
