4/4 These cuts will lead to less care or no care for people with disabilities, veterans, and children. “It’s not a right or left issue, it’s a right or wrong issue.” The focus should be on more efficient care delivery not labeling those in need as unworthy or ineligible.

2/4 Congress is looking to cut $880 billion in spending over 10 years ($88 billion per year). The prevailing opinion is that this cannot be done without cuts to Medicaid, and these cuts will only offset ~20% of the deficit increase from extending TCJA. kffhealthnews.org/news/article...

4/4 As for steroids, we saw a benefit from steroids in the management of COVID-19. Their role in severe cases of measles requiring hospitalization is worth study. Having said this, we have proven vaccines that are safe and very effective in preventing measles.

3/4 Regarding the use of clarithromycin, many have highlighted that an antibiotic does not treat measles which is a virus. Clarithromycin, though, does have anti-inflammatory properties. This could be studied, but it is thus far an unproven treatment strategy.

2/4 It is reasonable to discuss the role of Vit A in the treatment of measles in areas with a high prevalence of Vit A deficiency, but prevention through vaccination remains the best means of protection.
