Dock H shifted as surges offset 30” pilings. Metal flaps jammed between sections, snapping cables & even sparking electrical explosions. 💥

After the July 29 M8.8 #KamchatkaQuake, @cageosurvey.bsky.social scientists documented #tsunami impacts at Dana Point. Orange County Sheriff Harbor Patrol reported surges up to 10–12 mph rushing in/out, damaging a bait barge & challenging vessels in the harbor.

Data helps refine CA hazard #maps.

The July 29 M8.8 Kamchatka Peninsula #earthquake triggered a #tsunami advisory along CA’s coast. @cageosurvey.bsky.social scientists surveyed sites, incl. Pillar Point Harbor, where watermarks showed surges raising/lowering boat ramps overnight. Data improves hazard models, maps & planning.

to celebrate the completion of the College Lake Water Supply Project in #Watsonville.
