We also learned about their native plant nursery where they're collecting seeds and cuttings from across the preserves and growing new plants for even more restoration work through the Rewild Ojai project.

LANLT's strategic planning process identified important steps to ensure it continues to create, steward, and advocate for green spaces in Los Angeles’ underserved communities for years to come. This project will prioritize two key areas of the strategic plan: fundraising and communications strategy.

We also visited their most recent acquisition, Luginbuhl Ranch Preserve. Both projects further expand their existing conservation efforts and are supported by CCLT's Project Advancement Grant, funded by the Wildlife Conservation Board. 🌲 #CCLTOutOnTheLand

Grass Lake-Golden Gate Flats is a seasonal wetland along the Pacific Flyway and adjacent to a wildlife crossing being built across HWY 97. During our visit, we even saw a pair of nesting Greater Sandhill Cranes. It's also an important corridor for Roosevelt elk, mule deer, pronghorn & gray wolves.

"It's incredible to see just how connected the landscape is...even when it seems like 1 area is so far away from another," she recounted. "I marveled at how rich the Indigenous history must be and how long people have been visiting the homelands of the Western Mono, Nüümü, and Nüümü Witü."
