You probably knew but could ignore their hatred because they were buddies, bosses, church members, part of your pack, and you gave them slack because they had some redeeming qualities.
I think we all are capable of vile things, but looking in the mirror helps.

Anyone who identifies as GOP or Republican is either a pedo themselves (statistics from last 4 years of underage sexual assault shows that the perp has an 85%+ chance of identifying as republican) or are protecting a pedo from facing consequences. That’s my take and I say it loudly in public.

But being stupid or unaware of what's happening even in you're community is a dangerous thing, and I'm not giving anyone a pass because they're stupid or ignorant or both. Why does the South continually elect politicians who want to take social programs away, especially since they rely on them.

How I deal with the hateful:

1- If I see you, I will be nice because manners matter
2- If you need help, I will help you if I can

BUT
3- You are not welcome to my hospitality and I will not break bread with you because you are not entitled to any joy or happiness I have left in my life

Even after all this time, I still struggle to decide which is more disturbing: that such a steaming pile of narcissistic rot exists, or how so tens of millions of people support and identify so deeply with this abomination of humanity.

The MAGA experiment was founded on racism, self-interest and vengeance. That it metastasized into an actual voting bloc remains one of the most horrifying phenomena in our lifetime.
