ended the week with hellwhalers! i was sold on the premise of damned whalers sailing hell’s oceans to hunt a leviathan whale for redemption and didn’t know much about the gameplay loop prior and was delighted when the GM pulled up the dai siu board and asked us to bet our souls

that turned out amazing! a cricut has been on my wishlist for forever, might have to bite the bullet soon

hopefully next week! the game is playable solo but isn’t solo Mausritter since it’s not a TTRPG. it has its own objective and rules

in tuesday’s d&d, we persuaded a pair of tiefling siblings at loggerheads to hash it out and reconcile. we played as the NPCs in therapy who could only talk when holding a tortoise skull. the GM also made loyalty cards to handle xp!

stay tuned!

not really. i might have focused too much on making them cohesive with different elements of the location and traded off individuality. something to improve on next time!

lastly, i printed the module, read it through once more for typos and decided that it was good enough to submit!! learnt a ton and had fun along the way. particularly glad to have experienced another form of making!

after that, i drew some pics to replace the placeholders. still got ways to go in terms of illustration skills but it works

then, i opened affinity publisher for the first time and laid the content out based on LOTG’s style. had to watch yt tutorials to learn publisher basics but the ease of editing and bulk changes when the doc is properly formatted made that time investment worthwhile

at this point, i had enough material to complete a full draft in markdown. this is the doc i used to ask for feedback in discord servers, would rec the NSR cauldron! also read and tried to incorporate lessons from classic articles like diyanddragons.blogspot.com/2019/10/land... along the way

next, i moved to @kinopio.club so i could rearrange my ideas on a canvas and better visualize everything that's going on at once kinopio.club/caged-in-the...

i then looked up dungeon design resources and found @riseupcomus.bsky.social’s designing dungeons. i used chapters 2-4 to brainstorm, refine and sketch the map

ideas come from everywhere. my first seed was vultures, from reading abt how their nests preserve anthropogenic material! i knew i wanted to theme my entry around them
Generations of Bearded Vultures Stashed Humans' Treasures, Including a 650-Year-Old Sandal, in These Bird Nests
Researchers recovered more than 200 human artifacts from historical nests in southern Spain

i joined the jam bc i’m fond of DURF! i discovered it when my bf who isn’t into ttrpgs but humours me was up for a dungeon. i found @emielboven.itch.io's lair of the gobbler, read DURF’s rules and was ready to go within ~30 min. we had a blast so I wanted to do an adventure of a similar scope
