The ECHR is deeply embedded within the 1998 Belfast/Good Friday Agreement. This commitment does not allow the UK Government to formulate some version of what it regards as ECHR-equivalent protections.

Today, the High Court held that the @northernireland.gov.uk acted unlawfully in failing to adopt an Anti-Poverty Strategy. The case against DfC and the FM & DFM was dismissed.

This is a strong outcome that vindicates those who have campaigned for an APS and supported the case. ✊

Yesterday, CAJ and @iccl.bsky.social called on the Irish Government to fulfil its investigative obligations under the European Convention of Human Rights by launching a new cross-border report outlining three recommendations.
