Failure to respond positively to this request from Congress would further enflame public opinion in the UK. And heap pressure on the Met to investigate Andrew as rigorously as it would any other ordinary citizen.

The first limb of that policy would be fine on its own. The second limb is currently a pipe dream as no viable technologies have yet been developed to replace coke as the principal fuel for blast furnaces. I therefore worry that the Greens would find themselves in the same place as Lab-Con.

A key test for me is whether they would have genuinely and credibly committed to maintaining a virgin steelmaking capability at Port Talbot. To maintaining the blast furnaces. As opposed to the Lab-Con scam of reducing the plant to a scrap processing facility, branded as a green initiative.
