Somewhat off topic, but I have quick question: Dr. Devereaux, has there been a synthesis made between the War and Imperialism camp (Harris) and the Mediterranean Anarchy camp (Eckstein) ?

Was Rome “pathologically violent” or was it simply the best at what everyone was up to? All the best.

That’s a shame. Are they lacking in this one area, or is it indicative of their Companion to the Ancient World series as a whole? I was interested in picking up the Companion to Archaic Greece, but now I’m not too sure.

Maybe focusing on incremental progress might work. A project, like a 2+ hour video essay filled with detailed analysis (as opposed to just recap) is a daunting task for anyone. Instead, break the work into tiny pieces: a page written today; a few lines of dialogue recorded the next. Slow but steady.

Of course I’m just speculating here, but maybe you dread finishing it because you know you’re going to rip into it.

Not out of fear from online feedback, but because it’ll permanently change your opinion with a piece of media that had a profound impact on you.

Besides GTA6 (here’s hoping it keeps its late 2025 window), I noticed you haven’t really touched on the Mass Effect trilogy much.

If you’ve played it, maybe a short vid on some of its overarching theme’s would be good (adhering to the principles of realpolitik made the galaxy a worse place).
