When lockdown hit, it gave my disorder the perfect excuse to tighten its grip. I didn't need to leave-I couldn't leave. It was an agoraphobe's short-term dream and long-term nightmare. But for the past 100 days, l've walked. Just up and down my street, for now. Small steps, but consistent ones. I believe consistency will lead to normality, and normality to progress. Unlearning five years of habit and avoidance will take time, and that's okay. I've made peace with the fact that panic disorder will always be part of my life. There are things I may never be able to do because of it and that's okay, too. But what I can do is walk. To choose, every day, to open the door and put one foot in front of the other. Here's to the next 100

For those who don’t know I’ve been pretty much housebound with agoraphobia/panic disorder for nearly 5 years.

Today I managed to go on a walk for the first time in about a month. Just to the end of the street, but I’m proud of myself for not panicking and getting out and doing it ✨
